How Mitigation Banking came to Wyoming, and How Pathfinder Ranches Helped it
Become a Reality
Pathfinder Ranches Greater Sage-Grouse Habitat Bank was approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 2014, in conjunction with a Conservation Bank Review Team, which consisted of the Bureau of Land Management, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Wyoming Game and Fish Department and Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments. The Bank is the largest single bank and first Greater Sage-grouse conservation bank ever approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The specific objective of the Bank is to preserve and maintain existing habitats for Greater Sage-grouse in perpetuity, by minimizing direct and indirect threats to the species.
